Should I switch to tampons ?

First of all, i have already gotten my period when i was 13 and now i'm 14 and this whole time I have been using pads but wat i dont like is that it feels like diaper >.< and i have to position it in my underwear and if i position it wrong, start again, and so on. Are tampons my best choice?, i've read that the hymen has to be broken or something, doesn't that hurt? Plz help! And wat tampons would you recommend?
