Moving to Australia, help for new residents?

My 3 young children & I are departing Cape Town on July 28, 1st stop, Adelaide, & on to Victor Harbour where my pensioner mother lives. Then we will check out Lismore in NSW where my brother & family are. I don't know how I am going to get my life started there, I can only get limited help from my family. I have to find employment, schooling & a home.... any advice? I have Aus citizenship so I have no restrictions. My de facto partner is applying to join us there, but he will take a bit longer.
